CURRENT PROJECTS BEING UNDERTAKEN AT THE GANDHI NIKETAN ASHRAM

• A common library for the entire Ashram at a cost of Rs 12 lakhs. The Canara bank – Bangalore, Indian overseas Bank-Chennai and Thiru Karumuthu Kannan have donated to complete this project.

The Gandhiniketan Ashram has adopted a village  located 6 kms from T.Kallupatti. It is one of the tiny hamlets wherein the people are very enthusiastic to participate in the overall development of their village. We plan to have the following activities.

• A socio economic survey
• Creating awareness of their rights and duties as citizens of this country
• Nutritional advice for the pregnant mothers and children and practical demonstrations of nutritious food with what is available locally.
• Improve the sanitation facility for the individual houses as well as for community.
• Employing a teacher to give supplementary teaching to the children of the village who do not have access to extra coaching and adult literacy will be part of this program.
• Conducting periodical medical camps
• To facilitate for them to get various developmental schemes adapted by the
  government.
