On 14th June team from Apollo Hospitals from Madurai came for a discussion at the Ashram. The Apollo Hospitals, Madurai volunteered to have a health survey for the Ashram school children, Teachers and Ashram workers. They plan to see everyone and provide a health card. For any illness identified suitable guidance and help will be given. They suggested group insurance to all. This is a very laudable service offered by the Apollo Hospitals. The Ashram is indeed grateful to this gesture and the scheme is to be inaugurated in August this year.

Following this Prof. R. Venkataswami suggested the importance of renewing the activities of the Ashram in its role of doing constructive activities in the villages.

A village can be adapted and the Ashram team consisting of teachers and students can visit the village on every Sunday and focus on the following activities.

  1. Total sanitation
  2. Lavatory for each home
  3. Cleaning the village with self help groups.
  4. Antenatal care
  5. Nutritional advice
  6. Medical help with voluntary doctors
  7. Cleaning common place like temple by the team
  8. Cultural programmes.
