Our school’s annual sports meet was held on 11.01.2014. Starting at 8.30am Mr.G.Muthuramalingam, our Headmaster welcomed the gathering. Following this flag hoisting ceremony began. Mr.P.K.Padha Muthu, Inspector of police, T.Kallupatti after lighting the Olympic flame inaugurated the sports events. The students cheered the competitors. Various track events were held during the morning session and the winners were honored then and there by the teaching staff.

At 2.30pm the chief guest Dr.K.Chandrasekaran, the head of the department of physical education, Madurai Kamaraj university arrived. He was honoured by a march past by our students belonging to various houses. Few track events were witnessed by him and the highlight was the various methods of creating a pyramid and jumping through a ring of fire that were exhibited by our children. The events “tug of war” by Gents staff and lucky corner for ladies staff were vigorously cheered by our students.

Following this the prize distribution was held at 4pm in our auditorium with the prayer. Our Headmaster welcomed the gathering. Mr.V.Kandasamy, Physical Director presented the annual report. Mrs.V.Radha, Secretary, Gandhi niketan ashram spoke about the importance of sports. She appealed to the students to involve themselves in all sports activities.

In his speech he spoke about the importance of self confidence in competitions. Republic Day Celebration at Ashram:
The ashram community assembled at 8.15am at the Babu Rajendra Prasad square near Gandhi Mandapam when the national flag was hoisted by Mrs.Radha, our Ashram secretary . She blessed the teachers, students and others. She said that our republic is a state in which power is held by the people and all of us should work for the nation. Following this our students took a procession along the streets of T.Kallupatti raising slogans hailing our republic and Mahatma Gandhi. After the procession we assembled in our auditorium. The function started with the prayer.

Our secretary Mrs.Radha in her presidential address advised the students to have a helping mind. Our country needs a society where all are provided with basic needs. She spoke of the value of socialism for our country. Thiru.R.Janagaraj our Tamil teacher who was the main speaker stated that Republic day is the most important day for Indians. Our economy should develop well. Today India secures 120th place in human development index . This status should change. Mr.Nagajothi our Primary school HM proposed a vote of thanks. We celebrated our 65th republic day at the primary school at Kandiyadevanpatti a village near T.Kallupatti. The headmistress at that school Mrs.Jeyanthi gave the welcome address. Next the panchayat union leader of that village Thiru.Subramani hoisted the National flag and the students gave the flag song. Following this the students and the teachers paraded through the streets of the village. We planted two neem saplings in front of the school. Mrs.Umamaheswari of Kandiyadevanpatti Primary school stressed the importance of republic day and the role of Mahatma Gandhiji for our achieving the freedom. Mrs.S.Renugadevi our maths teacher explained the demerits of intoxicating drugs. Mrs.P.Latha in her talk stressed the importance of Cleanliness which is next to godliness. The need for keeping our environment safe was also highlighted. Then the Asst.headmaster of that school and the panchayat union leader gave away the prizes to the students who have participated in the competitions. Thiru.D.Packiaraj our teacher gave sweets to the students. Mrs.P.Krishnaveni proposed a vote of thanks. The meeting ended with our National Anthem.

On 26th January, our Gandhi Niketan Ashram joined hands with Kenjampatti village in celebrating our 65th Republic day. Our higher secondary Tamil department teachers, with their colleagues from our primary school participated. A rally was conducted under the presidential ship of kenjampatti village head on the streets of kenjampatti raising slogans like’Vande Matharam’, ‘Bharat Matha Ki Jai’. Our national flag was hoisted by village head. Our Tamil PG teacher Mrs.R.Vagai gave a talk on “Indian Republic”. Mrs.Parimala, AHM our primary school gave a special talk on “Swami Vivekananda’s life. Later sweets were distributed to the villages and students. Mr.Palpandi, Headmaster, Union school, Kenjampatti proposed a vote of thanks. The meeting ended with National Anthem.

On 30.01.2014, Sarvodaya day was celebrated in our Gandhi mandapam at 6.00am with special prayer. In the prayer, hostel students and all the local staff members of Gandhi Niketan Ashram participated.

The prayer was organized by Mr.Ramanisekar and group. Thiru.R.Venkataswami, President, Gandhiniketan ashram gave special message through skype. In his speech he spoke about the principles of gandhiji and J.C.Kumarappa.

The book “Unto this Last” by Ruskin was a turning point in Gandhiji’s life. We should follow the principles of both the leaders, and that is the real homage to them. Later we paid floral tribute at the Samathi of Dr.J C Kumarappa.

In connection with the 105th Birthday celebrations of the Founder of Gandhiniketan Ashram, Amarar G.Venkatachalapathi and 74th Annual Day Celebrations of the Gandhiniketan Ashram, Inter school competitions in various activities among the higher secondary and school students belonging to Usilampatti Educational District were held.

Many of the schools participated on our science Exhibition. The Joint Director, Tamilnadu Science and Technology, Chennai Dr.Soundarraja Perumal declared open the exhibition. Trichy Science centre co-ordinators Thiru i.K.Lenin Tamil kovan and Thiru R.Akilan were also present along with Mr.Kasi Pandi Science assistant of Govt.High School, Melakottai. They judged and selected the best Exhibit. They emphasized that students should have interest in doing researches in all subjects. The experts can create anything meaningful failures should be fought with the spirit “fight one more round” and then success is the only result. According to Marian Wright “Failure is just another way to learn how to do something right”.

The second day competitions were held village heritage sports’ on 25th July 2014. In the presence of our Headmaster and teachers. Our Ashram secretary Ms.V.Radha akka declared open the competitions. More than 10 schools from Usilampatti Educational district participated.

Cultural Festival-28.07.2014
As a part of our anniversary. We celebrated the cultural festival on 28.07.2014, Monday in our school auditorium.
The cultural programme was started with the prayer. Our chairman prof.G.Venkatachalapathy ayya inaugurated the programme. Our ashram secretary Mrs.V.Radha akka, our Headmaster, all the teachers, students and parents were also present.
The students of our primary school gave the following cultural items. Gopier nadanam, uzhavar nadanam, Bharatham, fancy dress and vaalmihi drama. Primary school teachers Mrs.Vijayarani, Mrs.Muthumari, Mrs.Uma maheswari sang a song jointly.

Founder’s day and Ashram Annual day celebrations-30.07.2014
The 105th Birthday celebrations of our Ashram founder Amarar G.venkatachalapathy Ayya and 74th Annual day of our ashram were held on 30th july 2014.
At 6.00am special prayer was conducted at Gandhimandapam. In the prayer meeting Mr.V.Regupathi, Goeverning body member spoke about our founder Mr.G.Venkatachalapathy ayya. In his speech he told that our founder started our ashram for the poor and needy people as per the wishes of Gandhiji.

He also said students should give importance to prayer. If we pray whole heartedly we will succeed.
Our president Prof.Dr.Venkataswami ayya gave special speech. He told that we should celebrate our founder’s day as “Thinking day”. He also warned about the enemies’ in house “Nam veetuppahaivarhal” like television, cell phone, computer and greediness.

“Gandhism” is the only source that will help us to unite our nation. It will help us to change our generation. So he asked the students to spread Gandhian thoughts among the people.

Mr.V.Srinivasan, who presided over the function distributed the prizes to the students who scored high marks in Govt.exams in X and XII std and the winners of all the various competitions conducted by our school.
In his presidential address he spoke that our ashram remembered him of puttaparthi sai samaj. We shall try to serve the village people jointly.

FOUNDATION DAY – 28.04.2014
On 28th April 2014 Gandhiniketan Ashram Foundation Day was celebrated in our Gandhimandabam at 6.00 A.M. with special prayer. In the prayer all the staff members of Gandhiniketan Ashram participated.
Our Headmaster G.Muthuramalingam organized the meeting. Mr.Ramanisekar and group conducted the prayer. Dr.V.Ragpathi Governing body Member of Gandhiniketan Ashram spoke about the principles of our Founder. Our Ashram President Prof.R.Venkataswami gave special speech about the importance of Foundation Day.
He mentioned that Thiru T.S.S. Rajan mentor of our Ayya G.Venkatachalapthy laid the foundation stone for our Ashram. Following the principles of those leaders is the real homage and faith on them.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS-15.08.2014
The 68th Independence day was celebrated at Panchayat Union Middle School in Karaikeni. Students of Gandhiniketan from Karaikeni, local students and Teachers, the staff – Tamil department of our school participated in the function.
